Yemen's National Strategy for Environmental Sustainability 2005-2015 and National Environmental Action Plan 20005-2010 focus on increasing sustainability in four key areas: water, land resources, biological diversity and coastal and the marine environment, and waste management. It recognizes the potentially negative consequences of climate change for coastal ecosystems, land resources, biodiversity, and migration. The National Strategy for Environmental Sustainability 2005-2015 and National Environmental Action Plan 20005-2010 set the government's policy objectives for sustainable water and land use management, coastal zone and fisheries management, improving air quality, sustainable forest management, and reducing waste.
