Law No. 17/2012/QH13 on Water Resources
The Law includes several considerations regarding climate change adaptation.
For instance, article 12 concerns the operation of basic survey on water resources. Such a survey must also assess, warn, and forecast impact of climate change over water resources.
Furthermore, a Strategy on water resources must consider the results of the basic survey, including the forecast of impacts from climate change on water sources (article 14(1)(d)). A Master Plan on water resources must be made on the basis of the impacts of climate change for water resources.
Regarding the use and exploitation and use of water resources, reservoirs must be be equipped to deal with conditions of normal and abnormal weather, including factors of climate change according to article 53(1)(d). The same applies to the operation of reservoirs (article 60(3)) with the goal of preventing and combatting droughts, floods, and artificial water logging.
