This Strategy sets the national policy for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. It serves as the basic instrument for the management of ecosystems, species and genetic resources, as well as the goods and services derived from them. The Strategy responds to specific needs of the country against the background of expanded and intensified use of natural resources.

41 targets are set for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. The Strategy sets out 8 main lines of action. Notably, one of the lines of action concerns the contribution of biodiversity to climate change mitigation.
