Green Finance Strategy

This document aims to set out a comprehensive approach to greening financial systems, mobilising finance for clean and resilient growth, and capturing the resulting opportunities for UK firms.


  • By 2025, $100Bn per year to help developing countries in their global transition.

  • $6T per year to be invested into infrastructure projects until 2030 to meet Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals.

  • The UK Government proposed to spend at least £5.8Bn on climate activities between 2011 and 2015.

  • The upcoming Energy White Paper aims to develop the energy system by 2050 to be in line with the Government's climate change goals. A set of actions are set out for 2030, including financing nuclear and other technologies.

  • The Resources and Waste Strategy tackles elimination of avoidable plastic waste, double resource productivity and avoiding wastes of all kind by 2050.

  • The Industrial Strategy's Clean Growth Grand Challenge commits to at least halving the energy use of new buildings by 2030, and establishing the first net-zero carbon industrial cluster by 2040 and at least one low-carbon cluster by 2030.
