Environmental Protection Law (2013 version)

This law defines the principles, regulations and measures related to management, monitoring protection, control, preservation and rehabilitation of the environment, as well as mitigation of anthropogenic impacts and pollutions. Adverse impacts on climate change are included in the scope of this law (art. 11). Art. 19 on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) specifies that climate effects should be estimated when developing projects that require an SEA. Art. 20 sets that preventive measures should be undertaken, including tree plantations, construction of dykes and drainage canals.
