National Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018-2040
Point 3.2 of the strategy focuses on the environment, climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction. It notably identifies the expansion of green space as a key element in reducing the risks of climate change, land degradation and air pollution.
Greening efforts are further associated with an enhancement of carbon sequestration capacities alongside economy-wide mitigation measures.
To increase the share of renewable energy to 10%.
To increase the network of protected areas to 10% of the total area of the country.
A program to restore and expand mountain forests, which share will increase by 2023 from 5.6% to 6% of the entire territory of the country
