Law 67/2010 on the creation of New Businesses by Farmers, Forestry and Fisheries Utilising Regional Resources and Promotion of Use of Regional Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery Products

This law aims to improve agriculture, forestry and fisheries management and expand the consumption of locally domestically produced agricultural, forestry and fishery products. It also plans to revitalise rural areas, improve food self-sufficiency and foster a society that places less burden on the environment. The law contains two main sections: (1) provisions relating to the creation of new businesses and diversification of businesses by farmers, foresters and fishermen, using local resources (Articles 2 to 24); and (2) measures to promote the use and consumption of local agricultural, forestry and fishery products (Articles 25 to 50). 

Some notable provisions include: 
  • Article 26 - promotion of the use of local agriculture, forestry and fishery products should be conducted with the intention of strengthening ties between producers and consumers and encouraging sharing of information between the two stakeholders 
  • Article 32 - promoting the use of local agricultural, forestry and fishery products may shorten the transportation distance and emissions associated with transportation
  • Article 36 - through active engagement with local communities, producers shall strive to produce according to the actual local conditions and consumption demand
