Building on the National Hydrogen Mission released by the Prime Minister in August 2021, this document sets India's strategy to meet its goal of becoming a global green hydrogen hub. It identifies the production of hydrogen and ammonia from unconsumed renewable power and connectivity to the grid as priorities.
The policy sets the framework so that hydrogen / ammonia manufacturers can purchase and use unconsumed renewable power. Waiver of inter-state transmission charges for a period of 25 years will be allowed to the manufacturers for projects commissioned before 30th June 2025. The manufacturers of Green Hydrogen / Ammonia and the renewable energy plant shall be given connectivity to the grid on priority basis to avoid any procedural delays.
The document also seeks to develop bunkers near ports for storage and export or direct use by ships. The land for the storage for this purpose shall be provided by the respective Port Authorities at applicable charges.
