Law No. 589-16 that creates the National System for Food and Nutrition Sovereignty and Security in the Dominican Republic

This law establishes the institutional framework for the creation of the National System for Food and Nutrition Sovereignty and Security, which will be in charge of the elaboration and development of food and nutritional sovereignty and security policies, as instruments aimed at respect, protect, facilitate and exercise the right to adequate food in accordance with the principles of human rights to improve the quality of life of the Dominican population.

Article 6 on the rights to food security notably states that people have the right to be protected from the consequences of adverse climatic events.
