Forest Fund Act

Passed in 2020
Pursuant to section 1, the objectives of this Act are to compensate forest owners for damage caused by climate change, particularly bark beetle proliferation; to reduce the infestation of Austrian forests by bark beetles; to develop climate-smart forests and strengthen biodiversity; and to strengthen the use of wood as a raw material in order to actively contribute to climate protection. 

To reach these objectives, section 2 sets up a forest fund for which 350 million euros shall be made available from federal funds.
