Sectors: Agriculture, Health, Tourism, Coastal zones, Urban, Transport, Energy

The NAP is the adaptation component of the National Climate Change Strategy (NCCS), which was approved by the Decision of the Council of Ministers no. 466 on July 3, 2019. The overall vision of the The National Adaptation Planning (NAP) is an Albania resilient to climate change. The NAP is a long-lasting process that establishes an implementation framework, supported through access mechanisms to finances, outreach and involvement, capacity building and monitoring. It includes goals and indicators, with 3 key objectives to be achieved before 2035:

  1. Damages through floods are reduced
  2. Agricultural resilience against floods is enhanced
  3. Drinking water quality is secured despite impacts from climate change

The implementation of the NAP is provided through “priority actions” of importance for climate resilience in Albania. It also contributes to fulfilling 4 of the 6 strategic priorities on climate change action from the NCCS. Namely, 1) Strengthen the capacity of relevant institutions and inter-institutional cooperation to address climate changes issues 2) streamline climate changes across sectoral strategic planning 3) reinforce the capacity and awareness on climate change issues 4) align to the EU Climate Change framework across sectors.
